Weal Supplements makes one product. This page explains why it exists and what we hold ourselves to.
Where this started
We spent a long stretch reading the clinical research on focus ingredients — which forms had been studied, at what amounts, and crucially in whom. Then we went and read the labels of what is actually being sold.
The gap between those two things was hard to unsee. Products using the inexpensive form of an ingredient while borrowing the reputation of research done on a different form. Amounts hidden inside a "proprietary blend", which is legal and which exists for exactly that purpose. Mushroom extracts with no beta-glucan percentage anywhere on the pack.
None of it is deceptive in a way that would get anyone in trouble. It just makes a product impossible to compare — which, commercially, is the point.
What we decided to do instead
Print everything. Every active, every amount, every form named specifically. No proprietary blends, and no number on our label that we would not want a shopper to check against somebody else's.
That is a low bar to describe and a surprisingly awkward one to hold, because it removes the option of quietly using less of the expensive ingredient. That is rather the point of committing to it in public.
The name
Weal is an old English word for wellbeing — it survives in the phrase "the common weal", meaning the good of everyone. We liked that it is plain, old, and has nothing to do with biohacking.
What we promise, and what we haven't earned yet
Being straight about which is which matters more to us than sounding established:
- Now: every active listed with its amount. Every figure on this site traceable to a published source with the population studied stated. No testimonials, ratings or customer counts — we would have to invent them, and inventing them is the one thing in this industry that carries real penalties.
- Committed to: a certificate of analysis published for every lot, so the beta-glucan percentage on the label can be checked against the paperwork. Manufacture to current Good Manufacturing Practice, with the facility named here once it is selected.
